A Pledge Program for the Clackamas Watershed
We all need to work together to reduce our use of pesticides and herbicides. Our organzation does water quality sampling along several creeks that flow into the Clackamas River. Pesticides are frequently detected in these water samples collected from the Clackamas River and its tributaries.
If you live in the Clackamas River Watershed, you can help keep pesticides out of the river! Make a promise to use fewer or no pesticides in your yard. By taking the Parting with Pesticides Pledge, you are helping protect clean water for people, fish, wildlife, pets, and drinking water.
As a thank-you, you’ll get a FREE yard sign to show your neighbors that your yard is a safe and healthy place.

Pesticide Numbers
According to the National Coalition for Pesticide Free Lawns, of the 30 commonly detected lawn pesticides in the US:
- 17 are detected in groundwater
- 23 have the ability to leach into drinking water sources
- 24 are toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms vital to our ecosystem
- 11 are toxic to bees
- and 16 are toxic to birds
Take the pledge today and help ensure the safety of all the inhabitants of our watershed!
