Tim Shibahara Memorial Scholarship Program

The Clackamas River Basin Council is proud to offer the Tim Shibahara Memorial Scholarship opportunity to benefit high school students attending Estacada High School, Colton High School, or Molalla High School. This scholarship is open to graduating high-school seniors pursuing higher education in a discipline relevant to goals of the Clackamas River Basin Council.

Examples include, but are not limited to: fish and wildlife science, natural resources, environmental science, etc. Preference will be given to students demonstrating a history of community involvement.

This scholarship program is also available to returning students who have successfully been awarded the application within the last year.

  • Application Opens: Dec 3, 2024
  • Application Closes: May 1, 2025
  • Scholarship Amount: $2,000 for first time high school applicants, $1,000 for second year applicants who have been awarded this scholarship in the past year.
  • High school students must be attending: Estacada High School, Molalla High School, Colton High School

A complete application must include:

  1. Completed application.
  2. Recent high school transcript demonstrating an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher (or college transcript if returning applicant).
  3. Typed essays in response to the questions in the application.

Eligibility — Applicants must be:

  1. Graduating Seniors at Estacada High School, Colton High School, or Molalla High School (not applicable to returning applicants).
  2. Applicants must provide proof of an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
  3. Applicants must demonstrate intent in pursuing an education relevant to the goals of the Clackamas River Basin Council.  Examples include, but are not limited to: Fish and Wildlife Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, etc.

Process — The scholarship Selection Committees will review the applications and select recipients that best meet the scholarship purpose based on the applicant’s eligibility and application form. Students selected to receive a scholarship must provide proof of enrollment at an accredited university, college, or community college before awards are disbursed.

*Additional Year Eligibility – Recipients may be eligible for an additional year of funding if they meet the following conditions:

  1. Demonstrate continued full-time enrollment at an accredited university, college or community college.
  2. Provide proof of an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  3. Submit a short essay to the Selection Committee stating how they are continuing their education and why it aligns with the purpose of the scholarship (see application using the button above for essay full questions).

All awards will be determined in an objective and non-discriminatory manner.
