We encourage you to take our free bus from Gladstone (departs 9:00 AM from 5427 Glen Echo Ave).
Prefer to drive? That’s fine too—just note that parking is limited to 20 vehicles. The address will be emailed to those who register to drive.
This event will be fun and educational
We are excited to introduce YOU to what Small Forestland Owners do. Their work truly impacts us all – but how?? You’ll learn the benefits of sustainable forestry practices, fish and wildlife management, carbon storage and sequestration, as well as where some of your forest products come from.
Activities include:
- Guided walk along a forested trail.
- View fish habitat restoration projects, beaver dams, and salmon fry in the creek.
- See wildlife enhancements like snags, bird boxes, and raptor platforms.
- Explore restored wetlands and native pollinator meadows.
- Scavenger hunt for kids (12 & under).
- Learn about stream temperature monitoring.
Participants should expect:
- To dress for the weather and include closed toe hiking shoes or boots.
- Be prepared for a ¾ mile walk on dirt trails and some raised walkways and bridges.
- Please bring bottled water.
- Please bring binoculars if you have them (optional).
What is provided for you:
- A ride on the bus.
- Coffee and light snacks.
- Scavenger hunt.
- Douglas-fir tree seedling giveaway for first 20 people who register.
- Other free giveaways such as educational booklets.
